Stands for Sacro Occipital Technique. Sacro relating to the sacrum (the triangular base of the spine) and Occipital relating to the Occiput (the base of the skull). S.O.T is a form of diagnosis as well as treatment. It looks at the Sacrum and the Occiput and the balance of the spine and spinal fluid between these two points, it is truely holistic.
One major advantage of SOT is that high velocity motions are often not necesary in the treatment process. SOT adjustments may be gently administered, some utilizing the force of gravity (laying on Chiropractic Blocks which are placed under the pelvis) and others with very light pressure.
Integral to S.O.T is correct cranial function, this is not only important in newborn and infants, though throughtout our lives.
