What does a Chiropractic treatment involve?

Chiropractic treatment (adjustments) utilizes the highly refined skills developed during five intensive years of chiropractic education. It involves safe, specific force, to the joints of the spine or elsewhere in the body that are ‘fixated’ (not moving properly) or out of alignment in order to reduce pain, and restore or enhance joint functioning.

The adjustment is usually performed by hand, though your Chiropractor can use a number of instruments (activator or chiropractic couch) to do the adjustment or assist it. The Chiropractic adjustment is a highly controlled procedure that rarely causes discomfort. The chiropractor adapts the procedure to meet the specific needs of each patient. Patients often note positive changes in their symptoms immediately following treatment.
